Afeni Shakur, born Alice Faye Williams in 1947 in North Carolina, was a prominent activist and member of the Black Panther Party. She is perhaps best known as the mother of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. Afeni played a significant role in shaping Tupac's views of inequality, racism, and social justice. After Tupac's death in 1996, Afeni continued to preserve her son's legacy by establishing the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation for the Arts.
