Alexander Duff (1806–1878) was a Scottish missionary and educator who played a significant role in promoting Western-style education in India. He arrived in Calcutta in 1830 and founded the General Assembly's Institution, which later became the renowned Scottish Church College. Duff believed that education was essential for the moral and intellectual improvement of Indian society and worked tirelessly to provide quality education to young Indians.
