Amanda Lindhout is a Canadian humanitarian, public speaker, and journalist known for surviving 460 days as a hostage in Somalia. She was born in 1981 and started her career as a freelance journalist covering war-torn countries. In 2008, Lindhout and her colleague were abducted by insurgents in Somalia. After her release, she founded the Global Enrichment Foundation to support women and children in developing countries.
