Biography

Anton Seidl was a Hungarian conductor known for his collaborations with composer Richard Wagner. Born in 1850 in Pest, Hungary, Seidl studied music in Vienna and began conducting in Germany. He gained recognition for his interpretations of Wagner's operas, conducting the premieres of several of Wagner's works in Bayreuth. Seidl later became the conductor of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he introduced American audiences to Wagner's music.
