Bernard Katz was a German-born biophysicist known for his research on the nerve impulse, synaptic transmission, and acetylcholine function. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1970, along with two colleagues, for their discoveries concerning the humoral transmitters in the nerve terminals and the mechanism for their storage, release, and inactivation.
