Biography

Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, was a British Army officer who served as a senior commander in World War II. He gained prominence as a result of his leadership of British and Allied forces in several successful campaigns, most notably Operation Overlord, the Battle of Normandy in 1944. Montgomery is known for his meticulous planning and emphasis on morale and discipline among his troops. After the war, he served as the Chief of the Imperial General Staff and became a peer in the House of Lords.
