Brian Emanuel Schatz is an American politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Hawaii since 2012. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and raised in Hawaii, where he later attended Pomona College. Schatz began his political career in the Hawaii House of Representatives before serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Hawaii. In 2012, he was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Governor Neil Abercrombie following the death of Senator Daniel Inouye.
