Carlos Lopez-Cantera is a Cuban-American politician who served as the 19th Lieutenant Governor of Florida from 2014 to 2019. Born in Spain, Lopez-Cantera immigrated to the United States as a child with his family. He began his political career in Miami-Dade County, holding various positions including City of Miami District 7 Commissioner, and Florida House of Representatives District 113 Representative. Lopez-Cantera became the first Hispanic to hold the position of Lieutenant Governor in Florida when he was appointed by Governor Rick Scott.
