Carter G. Woodson was an American historian, author, and journalist who is often regarded as the father of Black History. He dedicated his life to promoting the study of African American history and accomplishments. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of African American Life and History and established Black History Week, which later expanded to become Black History Month.
