Charlie Sifford (1922–2015) was an American professional golfer who became the first African American to play on the PGA Tour. Despite facing racial discrimination and hostility, Sifford persevered and broke down barriers in the sport of golf. He won multiple tournaments, including the Greater Hartford Open in 1967.
