Haile Gebrselassie is a retired Ethiopian long-distance track and road running athlete. He was born on April 18, 1973, in the Arsi Zone of Ethiopia. Gebrselassie is widely considered one of the greatest distance runners in history, having broken numerous world records and won two Olympic gold medals in the 10,000 meters. He set 27 world records during his career and was known for his incredible endurance and speed on the track.
