Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a retired American track and field athlete, ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the heptathlon as well as the long jump. Born in East St. Louis, Illinois in 1962, she excelled in multiple events which led her to win three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals. Joyner-Kersee also set world records in heptathlon and long jump. Beyond her sports career, she founded the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation to support youth in her hometown.
