Mother Teresa, known in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She dedicated her life to helping the poor, sick, and needy around the world, particularly in India. Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation that runs hospices, homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy, and tuberculosis, soup kitchens, and many other charitable services.
