About Anne Hutchinson
Anne Hutchinson (1591-1643) was a Puritan spiritual adviser and an important figure in the early colonization of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. She challenged the religious authorities of the time, advocating for women's role in church leadership and speaking out against the strict doctrines of the Puritan clergy. Hutchinson's beliefs stirred controversy and she was put on trial for heresy, ultimately leading to her banishment from the colony. She later settled in Rhode Island before tragically perishing in an attack by Native Americans.
