Charles Frazier is an American novelist known for his bestselling novel 'Cold Mountain', which won the National Book Award for Fiction in 1997. Frazier was born in 1950 in Asheville, North Carolina and grew up surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains, which later became the setting for many of his works.
