Charles King was an American military officer and the 12th president of Columbia University. He was born in 1875 in New York City and graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1898. King served in the Spanish-American War and various military campaigns. In 1904, he became the president of Columbia University, a position he held until his death in 1934.
