Chesa Boudin is an American public defender and politician who currently serves as the District Attorney of San Francisco. He was born on August 21, 1980, in New York City to parents who were both involved in left-wing activism. Boudin's parents were arrested when he was a toddler, and they never returned home, leading him to be raised by adoptive parents Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who were former members of the Weather Underground. Boudin went on to pursue a career in law and served as a public defender before being elected as the District Attorney in 2019.
