About Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system. Born in 1856 in Smiljan, in the Austrian Empire (now Croatia), Tesla immigrated to the United States in 1884. He worked with Thomas Edison before becoming a naturalized American citizen in 1891. Tesla's inventions and theoretical work formed the basis of the development of radio communication, electrical power, and other innovations that paved the way for the technological advances of the 20th century.
