Alden Nowlan was a Canadian poet, playwright, and journalist. Born into poverty and with little formal education, Nowlan's talent for writing emerged at a young age. His works often reflected his personal struggles, rural upbringing, and criticisms of society. Nowlan won numerous awards for his poetry, including the Governor General's Award.
