There's a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep 'em all away from you. That's never possible.

Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to 'jump at the sun.' We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.

We are the change that we seek.

The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Let America be America again. Let it be the dream it used to be.
