Alden Nowlan was a Canadian poet, playwright, and journalist. Born into poverty and with little formal education, Nowlan's talent for writing emerged at a young age. His works often reflected his personal struggles, rural upbringing, and criticisms of society. Nowlan won numerous awards for his poetry, including the Governor General's Award. He is remembered as one of Canada's most notable poets of the 20th century.
